Hearing Test – Audiometry and Tympanometry

Hearing Test – Audiometry and Tympanometry
We regularly check hearing as part of our check-ups. Depending on age and specific diagnostic questions, different testing methods are available.
At 6 months, we check hearing using a high-frequency rattle. From the age of three, we perform tympanometry. Formal audiometry is routinely conducted during check-ups at ages 6, 11, and 14.
Whenever hearing loss is suspected, audiometry and tympanometry can be carried out regardless of scheduled check-up ages – for example, if a child speaks conspicuously loudly or appears not to hear or understand spoken words well.
Play audiometry is feasible for many children as early as age three to four.
